Aselsan, the flagship defense contractor, is moving its anti-drone system Ejderha (Dragon) into production, adding to elements of the planned Steel Dome missile shield.

The Ejderha is a trailer-mounted system that can disable small drones with powerful electromagnetic bursts that fry electronic systems.

Such defenses have become more important since a drone entered Turkish airspace from the Black Sea at the end of 2025. It was shot down by fighter jets near the Roketsan facilities in Elmadağ, Ankara, and two UAVs were found crashed in rural areas in Bandırma and İzmit.

Aselsan CEO Ahmet Akyol said, Ejderha will be ready for use by the Turkish Armed Forces before the end of this year. The company delivered 47 units for the multi-layered air defense system Steel Dome in 2025 and aims to double this number in 2026.

MARKET VALUE EXCEEDED $30 BILLION

Aselsan became the first Turkish company to exceed a market capitalization of $30 billion on the Istanbul Stock Exchange as of the close of trading on January 13.

Aselsan reached a market value of 1 trillion lira in 2025 and is among the top 10 most valuable defense industry companies in Europe.
