As ongoing conflicts in the Strait of Hormuz and the naval warfare in the Black Sea have underscored the critical importance of mine countermeasures, Aselsan has developed the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) Deringöz, and announced that the AUV successfully detected bottom and moored naval mines at various depths during fully autonomous field tests.
“With its modular system architecture, Deringöz can be used in mine detection, intelligence, surveillance, harbor protection, protection of critical underwater infrastructure, and pipeline inspection tasks,” Aselsan said.
The name Deringöz is a portmanteau of the Turkish words derin (deep) and göz (eye).
15% REVENUE GROWTH IN FIRST QUARTER
On the other hand, according to the statement made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Aselsan’s revenue for the first quarter of 2026 increased by 15% compared to the same period last year, reaching 34.3 billion lira, and new export contracts reached $629 million, rising 69%.
Aselsan, which has maintained its position as the most valuable company on Borsa Istanbul (BIST) since Sep. 25, 2025, attributed this revenue growth to its recent production of the Steel Dome (Çelik Kubbe) air defense system, radars, electronic warfare, military communications, AI-backed urban security, electro-optics, and guided munitions.
Compared to the same period last year, the company’s backlog orders rose to 20.7 billion dollars with an increase of 39%, number of employees increased by over 3,000 reaching the threshold of 15,000, and the R&D expenditures increased by 41% to 357 million dollars.
