No decision was reached at the second hearing of the case against two leaders of the top business group TÜSİAD for comments they made in speeches.

In court, Orhan Turan, chair of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TÜSİAD), and Ömer Arif Aras, Chair of the High Advisory Council (YİK), denied the charges against them and requested acquittal.

Announcing its interim decision, the court ruled that the recording of Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras's speech should be sent to an expert for examination and transcription.

The court also ordered an investigation into whether the general assembly meeting at which the speech was delivered and the website where it was published were places where everyone has access.

The next hearing will be Jan. 20, 2026.

Turan and Aras are charged with publicly disseminating misleading information through the press and media, which carries a punishment from one year, ten months, and fifteen days to five years, six months, and fifteen days in jail.

Turan and Aras addressed the association's general assembly on Feb. 13 and criticized the undermining of the rule of law in Turkey.

The two were released with judicial control measures imposed on them in the form of a ban on leaving the country.
