The DEM Party said calls for by-elections are not on its agenda.

Party spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan said discussions around elections risk overshadowing the Kurdish process and added that the party’s primary focus remains democratization and efforts tied to the Kurdish issue.

While acknowledging the reasoning behind CHP Chair Özgür Özel’s call for a by-election, Doğan pointed to ongoing trustee appointments in municipalities, including those governed by both the CHP and the DEM Party, emphasizing that voter representation remains a core concern.
