Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan hosted Justice Minister Akın Gürlek in Ankara on Oct. 13. The Foreign Ministry announced the meeting.

Anadolu Agency reported it in a single sentence, citing diplomatic sources. The Foreign Ministry’s official account posted a photo with a brief note saying the two ministers met in Ankara.

Neither mentioned the venue or that Fidan hosted the talks. The Justice Ministry did not post about the meeting.

The meeting took place at the Foreign Ministry and was closed to the press.

Speculation about the meeting has focused on two issues. One is the ongoing process with the PKK. The other is an effort to speed up talks with the EU, particularly on visa facilitation.

The meeting came amid claims of infighting within the AKP over preparations for the post-Erdoğan era and the investment fund scandal, Evrensel said.
