Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) President Burhan Özdemir said exporters want the lira to weaken by more than 10% against the dollar.

Speaking to CNBC-e, the head of the association that brings together conservative businesspeople said that exporters think that the value of the dollar, which is currently worth about 40 TL, should rise more by the end of the year.

“It is anticipated to be between 43 and 45 lira. However, we believe that for exporters, it shouldn't be less than 45,” he said.

In addition to having an impact on exporters, Özdemir stated that the rise in the nation's import quantity index is also a significant issue for those firms that manufacture and sell domestically.

Özdemir added that a 350-400 basis point interest rate cut by the Central Bank in July would be appropriate, but he also noted that if the cut were to occur in September instead of July, it would be too late.
