Turkey purchased 12 second-hand C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from the U.K. to expand its fleet of 19 C-130 transport aircraft and delivered them to Marshall Aerospace for maintenance and repair prior to delivery to Turkey.

Marshall Aerospace, working in collaboration with the U.K. Defense Equipment and Support (DE&S) Export and Sales (E&S) unit, carries out preventive maintenance and storage activities for aircraft at its facility in Cambridge.

The contract signed by the Turkish Defense Ministry with Marshall Aerospace covers scheduled maintenance, spare parts, tools, and sustainment services. The British company will also provide training support to Turkish personnel to help the Turkish Air Force develop local capabilities on the C-130J platform.

In addition to scheduled maintenance, the company will replace the center wing boxes on all 12 airframes before each aircraft is returned to service.
