İYİ Party Deputy Chair Hakan Şeref Olgun said he is preparing to file a lawsuit contesting the 2017 constitutional referendum, in which the Supreme Election Board accepted unstamped ballots.

Olgun’s remarks came after a civil court dissolved the CHP’s Istanbul provincial administration and appointed a temporary committee in its place. He said that ruling could open the door for lawsuits targeting earlier votes.

“From now on, anyone can challenge all past presidential and parliamentary elections, as well as the referendum held with unstamped ballots,” Olgun said. “If such applications are rejected, then the law in Turkey will become ambiguous.”

The Yenilik Party already submitted a similar lawsuit, while the CHP used the same argument on appealing the decision about the 2023 congress. The court quickly rejected the application on Sept. 11.
