Journalist Fatih Altaylı, imprisoned in Silivri, conducted an interview through lawyers with CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is also held in the same prison in a different cell. The interview's high point was when İmamoğlu disclosed that he has been learning Kurdish.
Expressing regret for not being able to speak Kurdish when he met with a mother in a bazaar, he said, “I am making an effort to learn Kurdish, thinking that I should know at least a little of the language of my neighbors and fellow citizens with whom I share the same city.”
İmamoğlu said that the process of laying down weapons and ending terrorism and conflict in Turkey is important, adding that they want this process to lead to democracy, justice, and social peace.
